Meet The Speakers
As the Communications and Marketing Manager at Strut, Kayla wins positive attention for Strut clients by landing top-tier press coverage, building media relationships, driving social media efforts, writing blog content, and publishing press releases. Before Strut, Kayla spent seven years as the Marketing Manager for SOSV, a global VC firm with over 1,000 portfolio companies and $1B AUM, driving internal and external marketing efforts to attract and engage with founders and LPs. Prior to SOSV, she drove marketing efforts for a Madison-based tech startup. Kayla's passion for communications started early in her career, serving as a radio host since 2009, and she is the 5-time winner of “DJ of the Year” at the Madison Area Music Awards.
Katie is a marketing consultant with a focus on supporting venture capital firms to strengthen their brand awareness and provide value to their communities, especially entrepreneurs and LPs. She’s worked in VC for nearly a decade and also brings experience from her previous marketing and events work in the worlds of digital advertising, non-profits, and publishing. Before going out on her own, with Katie K Marketing + Events, she built and led the Community team for Funders Club where she hosted events, built products, and created content for their 40K+ investors and 400+ founders. Katie is a Chicagoan masquerading as a Californian.
Sarah serves as the Marketing & Communications Director of Venture Forward, NVCA’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting organization focused on shaping the future of venture capital. She amplifies Venture Forward’s mission through content creation, storytelling, and data to expand diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within the VC community. Prior to joining Venture Forward, Sarah led communications at JetBlue Ventures, the VC subsidiary of JetBlue Airways. There, she handled the internal and external communications for the firm – including media relations, brand partnerships, and event engagement – and advised its portfolio companies on these efforts during key milestones.
